Join me for a special Yoga Nidra / Restorative Yoga class on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at World Yoga Center studio in the Upper West Side, New York (see below).
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation technique practiced lying down in Shavasana (Corpse Pose). The practice uses body scanning, breath awareness, and imagery to induce deep relaxation, freedom, and ease.
Yoga Nidra is a form of “conscious sleep” or hypnagogic state that takes us into that blissful state between being awake and asleep. This state of deep relaxation allows us to tap into the unconscious and subconscious levels of the mind and release patterns that are held deep within. For this reason, Yoga Nidra is a great for managing stress-related illnesses, anxiety, depression and past traumas, and more.
In this workshop, we’ll begin with some pre-meditative breathing and asana (poses) to gently prepare the mind and body for deep meditation. The workshop includes:
- Pranayama (breathing exercises)
- Gentle Asana (including restorative yoga)
- Full Yoga Nidra practice (30-40 minutes)
- Short seated practice
