The heart chakra governs feelings of compassion, trust peace, self-love, and forgiveness, as well as our relationships with ourselves and others. It is also associated with feelings of grief and depression.
This heart chakra meditation, called Anahata Bhedana, uses visualization techniques along with the mantras Sat (meaning purification), and Yam (emotional expression) to gradually expand awareness of the breath at the heart chakra. This helps to create feelings of peace, compassion, and well-being.
This meditation is simple, yet powerful, and so perfect for beginners. If you are just starting out with meditation, remember that it is a practice. Meditation, by all means, does not mean an attempt to quiet the mind. Quieting the mind is simply a side effect of meditation.
Simply put, meditation is to effortlessly concentrate on one point for a certain amount of time. For example, we could meditate by repeating a mantra, or by observing our breathing, thoughts, or feelings.
